Over the past two years, I've been a strong advocate for the discussion of mental health. It's something my Facebook friends and real-life friends know to be true about me. If there's an article about depression or anxiety, I share it, sometimes with my own insight. I have friends message me and open up about their mental health with me that they're afraid to talk about with someone else. I even had someone reach out to me while they were in a rehab facility post suicide attempt. The thought of being a source of listening ears or insight to "crazies" is a scary honor to bare, but it's one that I whole-heartedly believe in.
Since being diagnosed depressed two years ago, I've had a bit of controversy with my grandparents, who believe that Jesus is the only answer to any issue. While I am a Christian, I'm not fond of the idea of church and believe that prayer is similar to this analogy: I can ask for change, but unless I make efforts to change myself, prayer is just wishful thinking.
When I first told my grandparents I was seeing a therapist, they didn't understand it. They thought it was silly of me to be paying money to a person giving me advice when all i needed to do was go to church and all my problems would be solved.
Fast forward two years, and now my grandmother has discussed the idea of going to see a therapist herself. I told her I supported her decision, and if she needed help finding a therapist I would help her.
We've talked about my depression and anxiety. My grandmother sees my posts on Facebook She knows it's something I live with everyday and talk about.
Today, I called my grandmother to remind her that I had a choir concert. She responded by saying that she and my grandfather would try to make it, but that it might be hard for my grandfather. I asked if something was wrong.
She told me that over the past few months, my grandfather has increasingly been having panic attacks when surrounded by large crowds. In order to lessen his anxiety, he clears his throat and coughs and taps his feet. She said he's visited the emergency room when having these attacks and has been prescribed Xanax and "an antidepressant I can't pronounce" to help him.
She then explained to me that my grandfather has had a small form of Tourette's since he was a kid, here he blinks excessively and scratches his arms. She said that it comes and goes in waves.
"I had no idea that he had that," I told her. I then described some of the treatments I do on my own to help with my anxiety.
After we got off the phone, I thought about my grandfather has been silently struggling with mental illness his whole life, and here I am at 25 years old, and I had no idea. This is a man who has practically raised me, and that I've known my whole life as a strong man who doesn't talk about issues unless something needs to be done.
That's when I realized that the discussion of mental illness is only recently becoming an open discussion. My grandparents have been raised in a society where mental illness is taboo, and if you had any form of mental illness, you were deemed crazy. Especially being raised in a strong Christian upbringing, where the pressure to live and portray a perfect life is unfortunately the religion's foundation.
I will help my grandfather realize his mental illness and help him find ways to control his anxiety.
I will continue to show support for my grandmother during a time of healing.
I will not be silent about the issue of mental health.
Please join me in speaking up.

2015: The Year of #24WARD
I (Finally) Turned 24 Years Old
After what seemed like the year that would never end, I finally escaped the terrible age of 23 and blissfully celebrated my 24th birthday in the best way! The night before my birthday, I went to the Rogue Bar with some friends and rang in my birthday at midnight with the "I'M 24" smile and a vodka cranberry. On the actual day, I went shopping and bought some vinyl and a killer leather jacket and returned home to find my amazing dad and stepmom had decorated the house for my party! My friends came over that evening where we celebrated with games, record-spinning, homebrew, and - my favorite part - sharing our Gratefuls. It was the best way to start moving #24ward.
I Celebrated Madeline's 1st Birthday
It's so crazy to think that a year has already gone by since my littlest sister was born! I remember going to the hospital on the day she was born and holding her and she didn't even have a name yet! After immediately falling in love with her, I made sure to always come by and see the whole family and play with Madeline. When I moved back home, it was even more fun playing with her. She would come in my room and say hi to "Paul" (my cardboard cutout of the Beatles) and touch my records and play with my jewelry (or "pretties"). Seeing her grow has been one of the biggest joys in my life, and so many people at her party have benefited from having Little Lady M in their life as well.

I Celebrated New Year's with Friends in Payson
Freddie's family has a cabin in Payson, so he invited me and a bunch of our friends to a winter wonderland getaway for New Year's. Freddie, Autumn, Noah and I drove up on New Year's Eve and met our friends Gabe, Sarah, Zach and Taylor. We beat the snowstorm and enjoyed a delicious dinner and after John and Matt arrived, rang in the New Year at midnight while drunkenly trying to keep warm. We spent three days at the cabin and had the most fun sledding at a nearby park and playing in the snow, while also exploring and playing games and listening to records and drinking all the wine the Paull family had to offer.
After meeting Kinsey last year though Freddie, I knew we were destined to be best friends. I needed a getaway to my favorite city - so what better excuse than to visit one of my favorite humans? I flew in on a Friday evening and the next day we went record shopping, driving through the beautiful parks, and spent the evening bar-hopping and drunkenly enjoying the city. I went to a show Sunday evening at Chop Suey where I saw Tacocat, Kithkin, and Chastity Belt play with other Seattle locals. Before I left Seattle on Monday, Kinsey showed me where her new home was going to be and we walked around Seattle Center and enjoyed the sunny day we were blessed with.
I Traveled to Salt Lake City to See Hozier
As a combined Christmas-Birthday present, my stepmom Jaelene purchased plane tickets for the two of us to fly to Salt Lake City and concert tickets to see Hozier perform live at The Depot. I got Jaelene hooked on Hozier, so it only made sense that the two of us would go see him in the city she was from. We flew out on a Tuesday and stayed with her niece, who lives in Salt Lake City. The concert was absolutely incredible - no words can express the emotions I felt during the show. The next day, we wandered the city, where we saw the Mormon Temple and gained a history lesson on the Church and headed to the airport for our quick trip home.

I started the year managing two bands: Harrison Fjord and Speak Easy. I was able to book both bands on the same bill for a local festival called SXSR: South By South Roosevelt. It was incredible to see most of my favorite people at one show. It was outside and the weather was beautiful. After the show, I went over to one of the Fjord's house and we all listened to records and painted on canvases and listened to barbershop tags. The Fjords studied barbershop singing together, so listening to their harmonies sync up is sweetness to my ears. This was the night when I felt I truly found my Fjord Family.

MARCH
I Worked the Busiest Month for Underground Alt
Earlier this year, Freddie and I started a film-based music blog called Underground Alt where we focus on filming up-and-coming bands that tour through Phoenix. In addition, we like to film local Phoenix bands covering other local Phoenix bands to spread the community. In a matter of three weeks, Freddie and I had successfully completed fifteen film sessions, six of which were on the same day. It was the most exhausting, yet fulfilling, feeling as we trekked on through long days and sleepless nights. While it was tiring, every session was some of the most fun we had working with bands.
I didn't realize I had a hobby outside of music - until I discovered thrifting. One day in March, I went to the Savers in north Scottsdale, which I heard was the best Savers to shop at because all the stylish rich folks dropped off their donations there. I struck GOLD! Since that day, I realized that I loved looking for old clothes and making them my own. After years of resorting to a T-shirt and jeans, I was beginning to wear classy button-up blouses with cardigans (while still wearing jeans). From Savers, I've learned to thrift at Buffalo Exchange, Rag-O-Rama (RIP), and various thrift and antique stores on vacations.
I Said "See You Later" to Gabe & Sara
As new friends in my life, I was so blessed to get to know Sarah Murzyn (now Laos) and Mark Gabriel Laos. Sarah earned herself a fancy new big girl job at the Urban Outfitters Headquarters in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Before she left, she held a yard sale to get rid of some items she couldn't take on the road with her, where I purchased a trunk for my records and a GORGEOUS sequined-covered blouse (pictured later). Sarah has always had an eye for what looks good, so when I heard she was moving for her new job, I thought "How perfect!" Before she left, she and longtime boyfriend Gabe eloped. Gabe later relocated to Philly to be with his new wife.
APRIL
I Saw Alabama Shakes Perform Live
The company I work for helped to promote the Alabama Shakes show, so upon arriving to the venue, Freddie and I were granted with All Access passes that lead to backstage areas and the brand new balcony that the venue had installed. We went up to the balcony to watch the Allah-Las open the show, then went backstage to watch Alabama Shakes' set with the Allah-Las standing with us. After the set, I grabbed a set list and had the whole band sign it. After we left the venue, we went to Casey Moore's Oyster House and met up with some of the members of the Allah-Las. It was a surreal night for sure.
I Said "See You Later" to Austin & Danie Plott
Over the past several months, I was blessed with the opportunity to befriend one of Freddie's oldest and dearest friends, Austin Plott, and his wife, Danie. when I first started dating freddie, Austin and Danie were some of the first friends of his that I met who immediately accepted me. Austin and I really clicked on a musical level, but more importantly, on a spiritual level. He was there for me in some of my darkest moments with some spiritual insight. Danie is a talented artist and has a keen eye for detail. Austin received a promotion with his job that transferred him to Austin, Texas, so he and Danie packed up their apartment and moved two states over.
I Celebrated Record Store Day
I woke up early and headed to Zia Records with my friend Jason where we binged in some deep crates of records. After we beat the crowds at Zia, we met up with Freddie for breakfast before finishing our quest for vinyl deals at Stinkweeds Records. While at Stinkweeds, I met up with some friends. After Stinkweeds, we had finished our hunt, so we called it a day early.
I Saw Hozier with (Most of) My Favorite People
For Christmas, I bought myself, Freddie, Kinsey, Jaelene and my dad tickets to see Hozier perform at the Marquee Theatre. Gabe had an extra ticket so he sold it to Spike. I ended up covering the show for azcentral, so I had two extra tickets for my friends Derek and Jason to join. Jaelene and my dad watched him upstairs on the balcony, Freddie wandered around the venue with his camera and photo pass, and the rest of us scrunched up front to enjoy his set. Kinsey and I were uncontrollably fangirling, and I was so happy to have her with me. After the show, we went to Casey Moore's and enjoyed drinks with Ryan from the opening act, Low Roar.
I Saw Harrison Fjord Perform at the MIM Theatre
In a random set of circumstances, Alpin Hong, a world-famous and accomplished pianist, met the boys of Harrison Fjord a few months prior at a clinic and he invited them to perform with him at his back-to-back nights of shows at the MIM Theatre. They played two sold out shows and had a great time and sounded great! After the shows, we partied at Freddie's house where we enjoyed drinks and MANY laughs. Some of our friends even came to join the party, and as Kinsey's last night in town, it was very hard for her to want to pack up and good home with all the friends she made on this trip and fun we had together.
MAY
I Started Hear & Now Media
As a way to get back into blogging but make it fun with some friends to help me write, I started a new blog where I could still be Mixtape Mandi without the blog attached to it and give everyone else a chance to write as well - Hear & Now Media. I developed a team of writers, received and assigned press releases, and got to work on a domain and a website and social media, and BOOM! Hear & Now Media was born.
I Went to Bisbee to Record with Harrison Fjord
As band mom and one of the managers, I teamed up with Chuck to plan a trip to Bisbee, Arizona where the boys would record a three-song EP in a vintage studio for the whole weekend. We packed up three cars full of instruments, gear, food, and sleeping gear and drove four hours south to almost Mexico. We stayed in a gigantic vacant hostile and played music and rode longboards around town. Freddie even surprised the boys by showing up after filming for many hours. We went thrifting and met some of the locals. We recorded the entire EP (minus vocals) that weekend and experienced one of the best weekends of our lives.
I Traveled to Arcosanti for the FORM Festival
I was invited to attend the FORM Festival, an electronic music festival that took place just about an hour and a half away from Phoenix. The festival was so secretive, that you had to receive an invite just to attend. I traveled with Spike and Sarah and we met our friend Chelsea to Arcosanti to pitch our campsite and enjoy the music. Throughout the weekend, I ran into friends from Phoenix, including Ryan, and made new friends from around the world. Most of the music we experienced was beautiful, but more than that, we enjoyed beautiful weather, generous people, and good vibes all weekend. It was definitely the retreat I needed.
I Traveled to Salt Lake City to see Tame Impala
As a way to reward ourselves for all the hard work we had accomplished, I surprised Freddie with plane tickets to Salt Lake City to see one of our favorite bands perform. I arranged for us to stay at Jaelene's sister's house and we spent about twenty-four hours in the city. After we arrived, we went to dinner and then to the show, where we experienced one of the best concerts - and even got to meet the whole band afterwards! The next day, we slept in WAY later than we wanted to, so we quickly packed up and headed out to the city to shop for records, grab some lunch, and head to the airport to return to Phoenix.
JUNE
I Said "See You Later" to Ryan Kluge
For the past three years, I've gotten to know and admire Ryan Kluge more and more each time I saw him. What started as a mutual appreciation for music blossomed into a beautiful friendship. I met him three years ago when he frequently visited Liberty Market. With each visit, I would hop over to him, buried in laptop with his headphones and poke him asking, "Whatcha listening to?" Eventually, a friendship blossomed. We were there for each other after breakups and through every music hiccup. I introduced him to Speak Easy and could not be more proud of him for accepting a job offer in Seattle.
I Hosted My First WINYL
As a part of Hear & Now Media, we developed a weekly night where writers would get together with a vinyl of their choosing and a bottle of wine. We'd start drinking and listening to records and jot down our thoughts on what we were listening to. What started as a gathering of music lovers and wine and pizza turned into a (mostly) weekly gathering of catching up with old friends, meeting new friends, teasing Spike over some dreamy girl-pop, trying terrible drinks, critiquing the best and worst music we could bring, and discovering what we love - and don't love - in our friends' vinyl collection.
JULY
I Met Dr. Dog
As part of my job, we hosted Wilco at Salt River Fields, and Dr. Dog opened the show. Since Freddie is a huge fan and has turned me into a fan, I was excited to go and represent the fandom by wearing the iconic beanie. It was so hot outside, but I ended meeting the band and grabbing an autographed set list after their set - which was a killer performance. They played one of my favorite songs ("The Breeze") and even mentioned how surprised they were that Freddie wasn't at the show (he was on vacation with family). Let's just say Freddie was sure surprised to see the signed set list when he got home.
I Traveled to Wisconsin for the Eaux Claires Festival
Words cannot express the excitement and musical shock I was in prior to, during, and after the festival. Freddie, Kinsey, Austin, Danie, and I joined our friends Elise and Nick in planning a weekend-long trip to Eau Claire, Wisconsin, where we ended up camping - and surviving the cruelest of weather conditions - and experienced some of the best music the Midwest had to offer! Music aside, it was the friend reunion we needed. And one of the perks? Freddie, Kinsey, and I received press credentials to the festival! It was truly one of the best weekends of my life. We are definitely going back next year!
AUGUST
I Celebrated One-Year with Freddie
Freddie and I survived one whole year together! Yes, even though there was a small break, we never left each other's side. I was so excited to go on a date with Freddie, because most nights we either go to shows together for work purposes, or we come home and do some work (we're workaholics). So, to have a night where we didn't worry about assignments or projects or emails and just focus on us was just what I wanted! We celebrated our one-year anniversary by going to dinner at the Compass Grill in downtown Phoenix, then heading over to Crescent Ballroom for jazz music and cocktails.
I Organized Harrison Fjord's EP Release
What a frustrating and rewarding moment! After recording the EP in Bisbee, mixing and mastering with a friend, hurrying to finish burning CDs and putting together physical CD cases the night before the release, realizing that some of the cases were ruined, and booking an outdoor show at First Friday only to have to delay because of a rain storm, the EPs were finally made and ready to sell! The boys performed outside of Revolver Records with local band and new friends Boss Frog, where their EP was sold inside. We ended up selling out of all 67 copies we brought to sell, and played a great performance and earned even more new fans.
I Earned a Promotion
After over a year and a half of continuous work at my job, I was beginning to feel like my life was stuck in this mundane routine. When a position at my job opened up, I wrote out a proposal to my boss about how I could take over the job opening while also completely the tasks of my existing job (crazy, huh?). After proving myself to him that I could, in fact, tackle the extra responsibilities, I was finally awarded a raise and promotion to the Public Relations & Marketing Coordinator! Now, not only do I do the social media for DZP, but I also coordinate artist interviews with the press and facilitate meet-and-greets with the artist and fans.
I Promoted My First Show
Without really intentionally trying, I fell into the role of promoter for a show at Crescent Ballroom with Harrison Fjord, local band The Darling Sounds, and touring band Chamber Band from Brooklyn. I was so nervous for this show, but it ended up being one of the best nights, for me and for the bands! Everyone was in such a great mood, we didn't run into any issues, all the bands made great money, and we all made new friends. This show was the beginning of a beautiful friendship for Harrison Fjord and Chamber Band. In fact, this show proved so successful, that Chamber Band has asked Harrison Fjord to join them on their summer tour for 2016.
I Joined a Community Chorus
In high school, I was an all-around choir nerd. I was a member of the 2009 All State Jazz choir, 2009 Regional Choir, performed in jazz choir for two years, earned two jazz choir scholarships to study "abroad" over the summer ("abroad" like Iowa), and even performed at Carnegie Hall with my choir in 2007. After devoting most of my childhood and high school career to choir, I switched my focus in college from performing music to studying the business of music. In an attempt to regain happiness that I used to have, I joined a community choir that my high school choir teacher directs. I go to rehearsal once a week and challenge myself to be the best performer I can be.
I Moved Out On My Own
After living with my parents for a year and driving endlessly from Chandler to Paradise Valley to North Scottsdale to Phoenix back to Chandler - sometimes all in one day - I decided it was time for me to move out on my own. I found a house in Tempe with two roommates who opened up their doors to me and my record collection. Not only did I move in one day, I also learned to drive a U-Haul truck (thanks, daddy!) This was such a step in the right direction towards living on my own again, and it reminded me of what living with roommates and what living in Tempe was again. It was definitely what I needed to prepare me to living on my own.
I Started Booking for More Local Bands
After the sweeping success of Harrison Fjord and my involvement with Speak Easy, more bands started to notice my drive, and began approaching me to manage their bands. The bands that made it through the application and approval process were The Redemptions, Captain Squeegee, and Fairy Bones. Even though I started booking in October, my first shows with them aren't until the new year, with The Redemptions celebrating their album release at Crescent Ballroom on January 28th and a kickass show at Rebel Lounge on January 9th with Captain Squuegee, Fairy Bones, and Harrison Fjord.
I Traveled to Las Vegas for Life is Beautiful Festival
As part of Hear & Now Media, my friend Spike and I were granted media passes to cover the music festival in Las Vegas. We stayed at a hotel with some friends literally right outside the festival gates and enjoyed performances by BORNS, Metric, Stevie Wonder, Duran Duran, The Killers, Death Cab for Cutie, Alessia Cara, and even our hometown boys Jared & the Mill. This was also the third time this year that I had seen Hozier, so I was able to show Chuck just how magical Hozier is live. In addition to enjoying the festival, we roamed around Fremont where we enjoyed breakfast at a record/coffee shop and also tried my first go at gambling.
OCTOBER
I Went to Payson with Friends for Freddie's Birthday
For the weekend of Freddie's birthday, we gathered about twenty of our closest friends and packed up our cars with film equipment, band gear, camping equipment, food, and audio gear to the Mogollon Rim in Payson where Freddie and his team filmed Harrison Fjord performing "Approximately 906 Miles" live on the edge of the rim. Afterwards, we set up camp and lit a campfire and enjoyed a delicious dinner, some tasty drinks, and tons of laughter as we celebrated Freddie's twenty-sixth time around the sun. The weather was cold, and it only rained when we weren't filming - it's like the weather was behaving for Freddie's birthday.
I Saw Sufjan Stevens Perform Live...Again
After seeing Sufjan Stevens perform at Eaux Claires Music Festival and repeatedly listening to Carrie & Lowell, Freddie and I got tickets to see Sufjan perform at the Orpheum Theatre, along with some of our friends, Elise Hernke and Matt Storto. we got dinner at PAZ before the show, then trekked over to the Orpheum, which is actually quite the perfect venue to see Sufjan This performance was somewhat different than his festival performance, as he performed the new album in its entirety, with some remixes thrown in, as well as performing some of his hits from Illinoise during his encore. I was especially happy that he saved his acoustic version of "Chicago" as his encore.
NOVEMBER
I Spent Time with Ellyn Heald
A friend I had made through Freddie was his longtime pal, Ellyn Heald, who now lives in New York pursuing an acting career. In the past few months, she landed a job on Bernie Sanders' political campaign and has been doing a lot of travelling with his campaign, from debates to television appearances to rallies. So when she had the opportunity to swing by Arizona for a few days, we all leaped at the chance to see her. We got dinner and went out for some drinks and caught up on the excitement of adult life. She inspires me to work hard, be true to myself, and to be an empowering woman. Thanks for being gracious, Ellyn.
I Went to a Sofar Secret Show
I became a member of the Sofar community, which is a company that puts on free secret house shows with touring musicians. You have to be invited to go, and after I received an invite, Freddie and I headed down to our secret location to see some talented musicians stripped down to an acoustic setting. We saw Lee Perreira, one of our favorite bands called Diners, Field Tripp, and a touring band from Los Angeles called Yoya. It was so fascinating just being able to pack a blanket, a case of wine and two glasses, and sit in someone's backyard with our wine and to be able to watch and listen to music. I will definitely keep my eye out for more Sofar gigs in the next year, whether in Phoenix, Tucson, or another city in the US.
I Spent Time with Kinsey & Ben
Kinsey came to visit Phoenix for the Thanksgiving weekend, but this time she brought her wonderful boyfriend, Ben. Their visit wasn't as long as her normal visits because of work obligations, but we were able to hang out at Freddie's house one night with Elise and drink some beer and catch up. We were also able to go out to Cornish Pasty with a bunch of Kinsey's friends where everyone caught up with her and got to meet Ben. It was so nice to see her again, but even nicer to show Ben a piece of Kinsey that he hasn't been able to see yet. Also, Freddie and Ben got along so well, and that really made me and Kinsey so happy. Until next time!
I Saw a Beatles Tribute Band with Freddie
For Freddie's birthday, I bought him tickets to see 1964, a Beatles tribute band. We got all dressed up and grabbed dinner at one of our favorite spots in Phoenix, Welcome Diner. We drank cocktails and I had a delicious mac n' cheese with Brussels sprouts - so good! Then we headed over to Celebrity Theatre for the show. This tribute was different from most because they only covered Beatles material from the years 1964 in the first half and 1965 in the second half. The stage at Celebrity rotates and we had front row seats, so the show was especially different from most shows we were used to seeing together. We enjoyed hearing songs that are not normally heard all the time, as well as seeing some pretty entertaining Beatles impersonations.
DECEMBER
I Went to Oliver Hibert's Art Show
Oliver Hibert is a friend of mine and Freddie's. Oliver is a very talented psychedelic-inspired artist, where he draws murals inspired by space, anatomy, and the unknown world, and paints with neon rainbow colors mixed with black and white. He is known for working with artists such as Fever the Ghost, Tame Impala, and Flaming Lips. He threw an art show with his artistic partner, Jacqueline Denton, as the Psychic Space Twins, where they displayed their art and sold some of their art pieces. While we were there, we caught up with old friends, met some new people, and marveled at the wonderful talent of Oliver and Jacqueline.
I Watched Harrison Fjord Get "Famous"
Remember that music video we filmed in October on the Mogollon Rim? Well, it premiered through my friend, Ed Masley, on AZCentral. After two days of its premiere, some random person posted the video on reddit, and immediately the views and comments and likes were skyrocketing! We went from 1800 views to 35,000 views in just 24 hours! Since then, the band has been receiving a ton of press requests and show opportunities. They were even featured in College Times Magazine, a publication that gets distributed to all the universities and community colleges in the Phoenix-Tempe area. The boys were especially excited, and it definitely generated some buzz in the local community. Watching them grow over the last year has been fun.
I Got a Raise
Since my promotion back in August, my workload had definitely increased. Some days, I would go into work at ten, finish ticket counts by eleven, amend contracts that would take hours, plan social media posts, design email blasts, coordinate interviews and meet-and-greets with our artists, and organize the show files, all by five. Sometimes I would be so busy that I would not be able to leave, so I would skip a lunch. My job is definitely a challenge, but even more so rewarding. Before our office closed for the holiday, my boss pulled me into his office and offered me a raise, in addition to my holiday bonus! I really proved how valuable my boss finds my ideas and work.
#24Ward was the year of moving forward, growth, and continual motion. I traveled, saw some friends move away, saw some amazing concerts, worked hard, and made sure to do the things that make me happy. Since my 24th year was about moving forward, I chosen to be grateful for all the things that make me feel alive in my 25th year. I am choosing to appreciate the little moments and experience all the exhilarating things that makes my cheeks blush with excitement and my bones shiver with anticipation. As well, there are so many moments when my depression hits that I lose sight of the beautiful reasons to be existing. But then I realize, I made it this far. I made it through moments I never thought I'd be able to survive. And that's even more reason to exist. That is why my hashtag for my 25th year will change to

My Anthem This Year was Tame Impala "Let It Happen"
All this running around
Trying to cover my shadow
An ocean growing inside
All the others seem shallow
All this running around
Bearing down on my shoulders
I can hear an alarm
Must be a warning
So let it happen, let it happen
I will not vanish and you will not scare me
Try to get through it, try to bounce to it
All the while thinking I might as well do it
Why would I do it? And you wanna think that
I will not vanish and you will not scare me
Try to get through it, try to bounce to it
All the while thinking I might as well do it
They be lovin' someone and I'm not that stupid
Take the next ticket to take the next train
Why would I do it? And you wanna think that

That is why my hashtag for my 25th year will change to
#AliveAt25

My Anthem This Year was Tame Impala "Let It Happen"
It's always around me, all this noise
But not nearly as loud as the voice saying
"Let it happen, let it happen (It's gonna feel so good)
Just let it happen, let it happen"
But not nearly as loud as the voice saying
"Let it happen, let it happen (It's gonna feel so good)
Just let it happen, let it happen"

Trying to cover my shadow
An ocean growing inside
All the others seem shallow
All this running around
Bearing down on my shoulders
I can hear an alarm
Must be a warning
I heard about a whirlwind that's coming 'round
It's gonna carry off all that isn't bound
When it happens, when it happens (I'm gonna be holding on)So let it happen, let it happen
All this running around
I can't fight it much longer
Something's trying to get out
And it's never been closer
If my ticker fails
Make up some other story
And if I never come back
Tell my mother I'm sorry
I can't fight it much longer
Something's trying to get out
And it's never been closer
If my ticker fails
Make up some other story
And if I never come back
Tell my mother I'm sorry

Try to get through it, try to bounce to it
All the while thinking I might as well do it
They be lovin' someone and I'm not that stupid
Take the next ticket to take the next trainWhy would I do it? And you wanna think that
I will not vanish and you will not scare me
Try to get through it, try to bounce to it
All the while thinking I might as well do it
They be lovin' someone and I'm not that stupid
Take the next ticket to take the next train
Why would I do it? And you wanna think that
Try to get through it, try to bounce to it
All the while thinking I might as well do it
They be lovin' someone and I'm not that stupid
Take the next ticket to take the next train
Why would I do it? And you wanna think that

Oh, maybe I was ready all along
Oh, maybe I was ready all along
Oh, maybe all I wanted was the sound
Oh but maybe I was ready all along
Oh, maybe I was ready all along
Oh, maybe all I wanted was the sound
Oh but maybe I was ready all along
Thanks for a great 24th year. Here's to 25!
